The City of Blue Ash will honor our nation’s heroes with a Veterans Day ceremony at the Blue Ash Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park. The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 11th at Cooper and Hunt Roads in downtown Blue Ash. This is the largest Veterans Day ceremony in Southwest Ohio.
The keynote speaker will be Colonel Paul W. Fellinger, Jr., who served with the U.S. Army for more than 25 years. Among his many accomplishments, Colonel Fellinger served as Troop Commander for the Asymmetric Warfare Group and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan three times. In 2008, he assumed command of 1st Squadron (Airbone), 91st Cavalry in Schweinfurt, Germany and was later assigned as the Senior Maneuver Trainer at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany. Colonel Fellinger retired from active service in 2016 and lives in Cincinnati.
The ceremony will also include a performance from the Ohio Military Band, wreath-laying, and writings from local students. Veterans groups from the Tri-State region will also take part in the event, including the American Legion Northeast Post #630, Sycamore VFW Post #3744 and Korean War Veterans Association.
The ceremony will be followed by a luncheon at the Blue Ash Recreation Center, located at 4433 Cooper Road. A special veteran will receive the “Top Vet” award during the luncheon.
